Flying Orchard was commissioned to create theatre for the Experimental Food Society Spectacular, an exhibition of food art and science. Flock of Fish blended physical theatre, dance and sculpture into an uncanny mix that flowed through the crowds attending the festival.
An articulation of craving and desire, Flock of Fish was an odyssey of stillness and motion in thrall to the senses. Threaded through the Experimental Food Society Spectacular’s exhibition, Flying Orchard's unique performance was sensitive to architecture, smells, sounds, and crowds as it wends its way through the audience in surprising and delightful ways.
The Experimental Food Society was founded by Alexa Perrin in January 2010 to front the UK’s most talented culinary creatives.
The annual exhibition features ground-breaking gourmet artists such as food designers Blanch & Shock, chocolate sculptor Paul Wayne Gregory, cake conjurer Annabel de Vetten and edible fashion creator Emily Crane.
